Weekends: 9:00 am to 5:00 pm

Office Hours:
Tues & Thurs: 11:00 am to 4:00 pm
Saturday: 9:00 am to 3:00 pm

Range Qualification Course

Before members can shoot on a KDFGC pistol or rifle range UNSUPERVISED, they must pass the Range Qualification Test.  The purpose of the Range Qualification Course is to prepare members to pass the qualification test.  Course includes in-class instruction, dry and live fire practice, as well as practice being a Range Officer.

  • KDFGC Club House and Indoor Range

TIME:

  • Saturdays.  2.5 hours, 11:30 AM to 2:00 PM

REGISTRATION: 

  • Register Online or at the Club Office. 

COST: 

  • $25 per person, min. 4, max. 8 students.
  • No refunds for no shows.

COURSE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Current KDFGC Membership
  • Quality ear and eye protection
  • Appropriate clothing and footwear for shooting
  • Pistol Qualifiers
    • Current PAL (Restricted) and ATT
    • Semi-auto pistol with multiple magazines (preferred) or a revolver 
    • Cleaning rod
    • Paper target (approx 12 inches) and stapler
    • Lawful case and locks for pistol transport 
    • At least 40 rounds of correct ammunition for pistol
    • Masking tape for patching targets 
  • Rifle Qualifiers
    • Club will provide rifle and ammo for qualification
    • Paper target (approx 12 inches) and stapler
    • Masking tape for patching targets

    • Firing Line and Safety Line
    • Casing and uncasing Firearms
    • Aimed and accurate Fire
    • Approved targets
  • Review of Firearm Safety on the Range
    • Review fundamentals of ACTS and PROVE
    • Instructor demonstration of grip, load, dry fire, mag change, and make safe on range
    • Instructor demonstration of clearing of malfunctions
  • Review of Range Officer Responsibilities and Commands
    • Being a Range Officer
    • Commands
      • Cease Fire ("Range Cold")
      • Commence Fire ("Range Hot")
      • Check targets
    • Emergencies
  • Student Dummy/Dry Fire Demonstration of Shooting Fundamentals
    • Grip, load, dry fire, mag change, make firearm safe on range
    • Clearing of malfunctions
  • Student Live Fire Practice
    • Grip, load, dry fire, mag change, make firearm safe on range
    • Live fire engagement a 12” target at 7 yards
  • Student RO Practice
    • Cease Fire ("Range Cold")
    • Commence Fire ("Range Hot")
